The small assemblage (75 in total) entitled 'Birthday' takes the form of a greeting card.
I took the photo on a recent trip to Kazakstahn and I have not manipulated the image in any fashion.
The surface finish on the white card is a gentle nod to the artist Richard Hamilton's artwork
for the Beatles White album (itself containing a track called Birthday) and the edition numbering
is also a play on that sleeve. The square is 7 inch single size and the paper bag harks back
to those days in the seventies and eighties when buying singles from your local record shop
was an event (and you held out for the picture sleeve version) and couldn't wait to get home
from school to play it on your Dad's record deck.
I also (coincidently) took the photo on my Birthday.
